My Morning MP3

[mp3] Three Seed - Silversun Pickups
from Carnavas (2006)

Official Website

remove a bullet from my head
extracting over confidence
hidden so easy to pretend
too bad the rush was found again

i can see the pictures on the floor
sketches of what was there before
three came from one little seed
the last one is all i need

i can hear the bottle on the ground
we turned the corner safe and sound
no thought of him as it was done
a clean execution
a clean execution

cool like the ocean
burned like a summer home
fooled by the notion
that the sums don't add up at all

there’s the line that is leading clearly feeding all
the things I don’t believe in but i’ll step in once
again
cut in line to get closer to the source of all the
things I’ll never belong to
step it up and sign right in again

cool like the ocean
burned like a summer home
fooled by the notion
that the sums don't add up at all

cool like the ocean
burned like a summer home
fooled by the notion
that the sums don't add up at all
that the sums never add up at all
that the sums don't add up at all...

Time After Time

I've been consumed with illustrating what I affectionately call "Mberleys''.  These are illustrations based from artist Ed Emberley's How To Draw Books which I collected as a kid.  His drawing books had everything in them.  EVERYTHING!  Well, a few weeks ago I found one of his drawing books my parents bought me and my brother way back in 1982.  I love that stuff and my kids are enjoying drawing from it now.  So, to make a long story longer, I simply don't have the time to draw everything.  Instead, I have drawn a City set of Mberleys which contains more than 70 unique illustrations in the Ed Emberley style.  You can find the file in the ART FILES page HERE.

In light of all this drawing, I've been thinking about refocusing  this site to be a better balance of art and music.  That's why there has been a big delay in posting lately.  I've been redesigning yet again!

[mp3] Mettle - Leila
from Blood, Looms, and Blooms (2008)
Warp Records

I love this track, in fact, I really like the entire album.

myspacepage

"Moving from a supporting keyboard role with Björk and Galliano to put out her own album on Aphex Twin's Rephlex Records, Leila is the rare female electronica songwriter who doesn't sing, choosing instead to use vocals from friends -- and even her own sister -- for her Like Weather long-player. Born in Iran, she spent part of her childhood there but was forced to flee to London with her family. She became interested in DJing as well as keyboards, and left college to play with Björk on her first album, 1994's Debut."  - allmusic.com

And Justice For All

So last night I was laughing it up with my neighbors about how many moons had passed since we've last seen a Metallica concert.  Let's just say, several.  I, like throngs of others, am not all that quick to hear a new Metallica album based on their most recent efforts and exploits.  What do I want from Metallica?  Nothing at all anymore.  Never-the-less, they're back and morbid curiosity got the best of me.

[mp3] The Day That Never Comes - Metallica
from the forthcoming album Death MagneticVery scary, no? I mean, look at that cover, ARRRGG!
Metallica, please don't sue me for posting this.  If you would like me to remove it, just send me an e-mail.  I really don't have much money and my riding mower has already been stolen.

Since we're doing a revival of sorts today Universe, I happened across another blast from the past, Johnny Cash.  I enjoy lots of Johnny Cash songs and I fondly remember listening to the man in black with my parents ages ago.  That was along side Willie Nelson, Kris Kristofferson, Waylon Jennings, Marty Robbins, The Kingston Trio, and countless others I can't remember.  Needless to say, when I saw a Johnny Cash remixed album, I was skeptical but intrigued.  The album starts off with Snoop Dogg and how famous he is remixing "I Walk The Line".  That was mildly annoying hearing him name drop himself as the track wasn't really that terrible.  The second track however, Big River as remixed by Count De Money, down right jams.   The rest of the album ain't half bad either.  As remixes tend to be, these are fun and bouncy.  Yes, bouncy.
